We were hosted by a lovely family from Germany, specifically from the Freiburg area. Cheerful company engaged us for buffet catering on the occasion of their 40th birthday celebration.
We visited them in a beautiful vacation house in Kavran, which they rented for a week.
Istrian street food
The company expressed its desire to try istrian cuisine and dishes. They were delighted by the charcuterie boards with a range of Istrian products. The best local cheeses, prosciutto, homemade sausages would not leave anyone indifferent.
Our home-made tuna pate is simply adored, so it was the same this time.
Polenta is always a winning combination. In the past, this specialty was a dish for the poor, and today it is enjoyed all over Croatia. It goes well with seafood, so we served polenta with prawns and teriyaki sauce.
Another specialty was anchovies with greens and smoked chlorophyll sauce. We also served homemade bread with hummus and guacamole spreads.
Bruschetta with mozzarella and tomato also delighted those present at the birthday celebration.
Hot buffet
For hot dishes, we prepared homemade istrian pasta pljukanci with istrian ox beef boškarin. We also served grilled chicken in the Mediterranean style with the addition of vegetables.
